Sympathy

Postby wxbowner on Sun Jan 06, 2008 5:37 pm

I can sympathise with Windermere regarding the matter of sub-letting. Being a sub-letter with SLP last season I recognise some of the problems that you have had to endure. At White Cross however I have not suffered from a lack of bookings, perhaps because there is a shortage of Exclusive lodges in their own Hire Fleet. I do however have the same problems with Cleaners. On the occasions that we have visited our lodge there has always been issues with the cleanliness. We always make the point of mentioning it to the Customer Liaison Manager, who always gives the same appologies, either " it was missed off the list" or " we`re very busy at the moment, and i havent got time to talk to you". I do know that there is no House Keeper at White Cross and the Customer Liaison Manager takes great delight in telling all unsundry that " she" has to do this ontop of here other jobs. Strange that you often see the General Manager, Assistant Manager, Security Guard even Ian (the shop) walking around the Park carrying laundry etc.( probably cant get hold of the buggy keys off the CLM).
My main gripe however is why do we have to wait for the income from our sub-letting to be forwarded to us at the end of each season. Site fees have to be paid before the Park opens and all bills are due within 14 days. If people are booking holidays I assume that they pay before they arrive at the Park. If you are late at White Cross you get a reminder, three infact and then its disconnection, or a phone call from the Assistant General Manager requesting that the account be put in order. ( He seems to be very good at extracting monies from owners I`ve heard).
So please can we have a review of policy SLP

As I understand it WOL was a vehicle set up to buy SLP, therefore the directors stay the same, legal and general directors disapeared. A new director was appointed a Mr Casey who represents Mountain Capital and was or is connected with Admiral Pubs.
Interesting that there is a mention of SLP directors reading this forum, is that why the canteen sketch has dissapeared !

Don't waste your time

Postby lakeland on Sun Feb 03, 2008 10:14 am

The simple fact is that SLP are are NOT geared up for sub-letting. They promote ideas but don't have the organisational capacity to deliver ...producing any form of contract , terms and conditions is a major problem for them....what ever hapended to Owners Choice ?

Owners on our park share sub letting experiences and use a couple of local specialists. Ironcially, sub-letting has been our real success and despite all the SLP inflicted problems

SLP have no quality controls over sub-letting for example - they employ a cleaning company which is basically two lads and a man and only get involved when problems arise ...........the professional companies employ housekeepers to check your property is mainatianed to the required star rating

Does getting involved mean they actually solve the problems?

Subletting

Postby Pensky on Sat Apr 12, 2008 4:00 pm

After two seasons of subletting via SLP and also obtaining bookings ourselves we decided for 2008 we would go it alone and cut out WXB all together. This was largely to the fact that we received numerous complaints about the cleanliness of our lodge and we had no trust in the staff of WXB whatsoever. We too lost revenue after turning down booking enquiries and then receiving no money from WXB only to be told that they had been cancellations. I was also told about some bookings we had but then which apparently turned out to be for a different property. We advertise our lodge on www.holiday-rentals.com and have found a, so far, very good cleaning and maintenance firm who are local to the area. We never received that many bookings from WXB in any event so we do not feel we are losing out at all. We had tried on many many occasions to deal with the WXB staff and to build up a good relationship with them but they really could not seem to care less. This season, so far, we are doing OK, we have plenty of enquiries and lots of bookings and also have found an absolute star in our cleaner, who has very kindly taken on a lot of things for us to sort out, because we live 3 hours away and cannot keep popping up to do these kind of things. Fingers crossed!
