Are you a casualty of the 'freeze' during w/c 21/12?

If you have anything negative to say about SLP

So far there are 16 owners on Limefitt and the list of flooded lodgs goes on and on

Did your Park Management alert you the weather forecast and did you experience the same issues as the owners on Limefitt /

- gas bottles ran out
- outside pipes froze up

freeze

Postby Fallbarrow on Sat Dec 29, 2007 10:45 am

At the moment I have no idea if my lodge survived the freeze, as I refuse to use it during the "closed" season. Hopefully it should be ok as the water is turned off under the unit and SLP have supposedly lagged all exposed external water feeds (somehow I doubt this). I also put anti freeze in the toilet and sinks.

I have heard from friends that there are units on White Cross that have suffered as a result of the bad weather over Christmas, fortunatley not mine. We paid for the drain down service offered by White Cross, £162.50 for the full service, money well spent I feel.
There is a rumour that 2 of SLP's Lodges suffered. ( obviously didnt get their forms in ontime)

I am led to believe that the Full Package relates to the water being drained down, inhibiter being put into the central heating system and then being reinstated at a time of our choosing (mid March).
Does your comments suggest that there are different rates for different units, I think not at White Cross, ours is a 2 bedroom lodge and i know that caravan owners got the same letter as we did. The work was carried out by the maintenance team. One of the damaged lodges was the Maintenance Managers, makes you wonder.

Never had the pleasure of meeting Mr Gaskell, I was led to believe that the inhibiter is ant-freeze,( but your not allowed to say that).
If you do the winterisation yourself does it invalidate your insurance if you are not a qualified plumber.
What if you have SLP insurance ?
The plumber gas man on White Cross is a sub -contractor and is very good ( Corgi Registered)
Don't think he did the drain downs though.
I dont think however that the Park can be held responsable for not letting owners know what the weather forecast is going to be. These lodges cost a lot of money and I for one watch the forecast quite carefully especialy in winter.

Good point huntedcamper. I will have checked my policy and it does not mention any exclusions if you winterise the lodge yourself. Mind you, my policy is not through SLP.

Freeze update

Postby lakeland on Sun Feb 03, 2008 10:18 am

Limefitt reception reported that 24 lodges were flooded

SLP have now offered to install tank gas for owners and replace the ineffective gas bottle system ...one step forward for lodge ownership !

I am insured with Park Home Insurance Services (http://www.parkhomeinsurance.com/).

Just renewed my policy for £321. I have informed them that it is a holiday home and not a park home. They wanted some photos of the lodge and the make and model.
