Fallbarrow

Postby Fallbarrow on Fri Jul 11, 2008 7:46 am

Well they should come and park it on the Lakeside at Fallbarrow and check the speed of the jets flying over Windermere. During the week the RAF practice low flying over Windermere and it gets a tad noisy. Mind you, as an aircraft buff, I get to see close up some of the RAF's finest (Tornados, Harriers, Typhoon even a Hercy Bird).

Got the air show soon as well

Is it best to view the airshow from the park or join the crowds in Bowness?

Airshow

You get a pretty good view from the park. The Red Arrows are usually very good.

Pity we will miss it this year

Lake Wardens

Postby Fallbarrow on Tue Jul 15, 2008 6:20 pm

I think it was last season that the Lake Wardens were getting heavy with folks in boats trying to watch the show.

I have never seen the show from Bowness or a boat so can't compare with the view from FB, just know that it is generally a good view but might be better in Bowness or on a boat. But then again, cheap beer at my lodge.

In the end we decided to hire a boat from Shepherds - £62 for 3 hours - and we had a great afternoon cruising up and down the lake with a picnic, and watching the occasional plane fly over (it's not the busiest air show you will ever see).

It's a pity that the Red Arrows weren't there this year, but the Yakovlevs were quite good in their place.

How did all the paying peeps get on with my guests?

Plus, if you wanted a boat, why did you not say, I would have rented out cheaper than Sheps
