White Cross Bay Fees

Postby wxbowner on Mon Dec 31, 2007 12:49 pm

The fees for our lodge are approx £4800.00 for the season starting March 1st to November 2008, no extended season as yet. The general manager recently said that it would be happening in the near future, but he said that in july as well. We are looking forward to increased site fees when it does happen

It will be interesting to see if SLP actually consult with the owners of White Cross Bay before going ahead with the planning application to extend the season. This was one of the main complaints from Fallbarrow owners, we were never formally consulted. Also, the increase for the extra weeks was around £1,000 making our fees in total £5,800 approx. Now most people on Fallbarrow do not believe we are getting good value for money from SLP as the level of service has declined significantly since John Morphett sold out and fees have increased way above inflation.

Rates bill & planning application

Postby lodgeowner on Mon May 05, 2008 8:15 pm

Has anyone queried the rates bill, I have but as yet haven't had a reply just 2 reminders that I haven't paid! Can't understand why it has gone up so much and how they work out the number of owners who have to pay it.

Also, WXB have put there planning application in for the extended season. Makes very interesting reading. Given that Fallbarrow was granted the extended season can't see how the planners can refuse really. I'm not sure that I want to pay an extra £1000 for a few weeks in the cold. Our lodge is an older one who's pipes freeze (and burst) regularly so we'd have to put a lot more insulation on them to stop this.

We haven't had the rates bill yet for Fallbarrow, but I paid last years of £451. Now we have been promised more "clarity" on what we are being charged for. On Fallbarrow and Limefitt we know that the actual council tax charge does not correspond with the number of units on the Local Authorities register. You can get the actual number of units assessed for WXB from the Local Authority (South Lakeland District Council). I had to use the Freedom of Information Act to get the figures, but it was quite an easy and quick process. The information is public domain so is accessible.

Have SLP formally consulted with all owners on WXB over the planned extension to the season? This was my main complaint that there was no formal consultation.

Extended season application

The above link takes you to the planning application to extend the season at WXB. As yet there is no decision on this. There is the opportunity to comment, which I suggest owners do.

Also, if granted, there may well be conditions attached such as denial of boat launching facilities, fishing and access to the Lake shore (as with Fallbarrow).

Just reading

Postby Fallbarrow on Mon May 05, 2008 9:55 pm

Just reading the covering letter for the application. The use of jetties will not be allowed during the extended season, so tough on all you boaters. Also, there is reference to reducing the use of WXB for dry boat storage during the extended season.

The letter also states that SLP expects no more than 10 caravans/lodges to be used at any time during the extended season (so why bother?) and that 17 people will be employed full time (how many now?). It also states that the hire fleet will not be used and that many older caravans and lodges will not be used as they do not have the right level of insulation. So if you are an owner of an older lodge or caravan, you are stuffed, but I bet you still have to pay!!
