South Lakeland Parks (SLP) Forum

We arrived up at Fallbarrow at around 10-00 pm tonight (Saturday 3 May) to be greeted by loud live music blasting over the site. I assume it was coming from the club somewhere but it was so loud. Pity the ear drums of the people closer to the music.

Now I don't want to seem a kill joy, but I do not drive 70 miles up here to listen to second rate cover versions of Elton John. The Lake District is a place of peace and tranquillity and as such should not be disturbed, especially as it went on until after 11-00 pm.

Of course I could be completely wrong in blaming SLP for this as it may have been somewhere offsite, but it did not sound like it was offsite.

Does anybody know where the music came from?

I have since discovered the source of last nights noise. There was a wedding marquee set up at Fallbarrow Hall and was nothing to do with SLP.

The night warden did go to the wedding marquee to request them to turn the noise down, which they did but turned it back up again once he left. Apparently, Mark Hans-Brooker (Park Manager) was called out and he asked them to turn the noise down or else he would call the police. This time they did comply.

So credit where credit is due, well done to the staff at an SLP Park in sorting out a local issue.
