Postby Boro lodge owner » Mon Aug 02, 2010 9:10 pm

Sunday Express aug 1st ,page 71:

New clarifiaction has been given in a court case now classifying chalets / holiday homes as dwellings, meaning that any park refurbishment that is to be passed on as fees as an extra £250 annually must be consulted with all lodge owners, a must read! Also service charges must be palced in trust fund and owners assoc. must be recognised by site owners.
www.fklaw.co.uk apparently more reading on this issue.

I have read the article and it refers to units purchased on a lease hold basis. SLPs units are sold on a licence as most caravans and lodges are. This new ruling does not apply to licences. This topic was covered by the BH & HPA in their May/June addition page 29. I have a copy of this if it helps for clarification purposes.

Hope this information is of some help.

Does that mean that SLP wil continiue to avoid meeting with groups of owners as a matter of policy then Mark?

It would be marvelous if you could post the clarification here...

SLP take the time to listen to all its owners. My office door is always open for anyone who has issues on the park. I also publish my email address in the owners news letters so they can email me at any time. I answer our owners emails within hours of them being recieved. Thanks

Yes but your bosses (the directors) refuse point blank to meet with more than one owner at a time and have stated that they will not recognise Owners' Associations under any circumstances (which is a very sad and negative attitude).

When there is a group of owners suffering from a similar issue (as in the Limefitt burglaries earlier in the year) then, in my opinion, this stance is unforgiveable as it just wastes our time in a totally unnecessary way.

I wonder why they are so keen to avoid dealing with us as a group? Do you have any ideas?

And do you have that clarification from BH & HPA that you said you'd post if requested?

I think a small representitive group of owners would only benefit the park especially when an number are indeed business owners themselves and would / may have excellent ideas that would make the park better and more productive?

I agree absolutely.

Now that they are charging BMW style lodge prices the have to realise that they have to provide BMW style customer service, and I have to say that if they took on board some of the advice they would no doubt get we could all benefit.

I wouldn't bet too much money on it happening, but I'd love to be surprised!
