Service levels

Postby Fallbarrow on Tue Jan 01, 2008 6:28 pm

So what exactly do we get in return for our site fees?

As far as I can see it covers:

Cutting the grass between my lodge and next door.
Emptying the septic tank
General gardening around the site
General site maintenance
Site security
Waste collection

Now the reality is that the grass is cut regularly but not often, obviously the septic tank is emptied, SLP do keep the public garden areas in good order, the site is not that well maintained, the security guard I have not seen for two years, the waste is collected.

Everything else is charged for (boat mooring, launching, internet)

There is no way that SLP will ever convince me that the above represents good value for money. I assume that Regent gets the same level of service for less than £2,000, Limefitt gets the same service for less than £4,000 and many believe that is too much.

Cheeky little chappies in Kendal

Lol, that is the best description I have heard for SLP Management for a long time.

To be honest, I have no idea what the rates are supposed to cover or the fees. Therein lies the whole problem. SLP are deliberately economical with the facts as "ignorance is the opiate of the lodge owner"

I wouldnt mind the fee's so much if the "HAYBARN" had some money spent on it so as to make it a pleasant end of day retreat. All the guests I have taken to limefitt would rather walk to the Queens head or drive to the Spread eagle for some food and a relaxing drink. Its a shame that the on site facilities are not maximised as the haybarn could be made appealing with a little thought and investment.

Hi David

Welcome to the forum and a good post to start.

Never having visited Limefitt I can't really comment on the state of the on site club. At Fallbarrow, there has been a significant investment in a bistro/shop and it is very nice but never used. The club at FB is ok and in the summer months offers entertainment and has now invested in a big TV and Sky. However, I am like most folks on FB and prefer to drink in or wander into Bowness to the Hole in the Wall pub or the White House for a meal.

In hindsight I guess that SLP made an error in investing in something at FB with lots of competition compared to Limefitt with something more of a captive market.

Regards
