Limefitt - less stressful if you accept the status quo

Postby lakeland on Sat Aug 09, 2008 8:26 pm

Just back from a week staying on the Park. It was our annual summer holiday which catered for our sporting interests and our increasing desire to seek out Lakeland pubs with great food and beer ( well at least in my case).

When I arrived back the annual site fee invoice had arrived ..ninety days early !! and yes calculated the increase to be £170 or 4.5%! Having read the 2009 Park Rules I could only find one item which I plan to seek further clarification upon from Mark Thomas... 3.3. what is defined as ‘service charges’ as I thought these were covered by the site fee ...old chestnut I know but it still annoys me! Did anyone spot any other rules which I should be worried about?

During the holiday week and for the first time ever I had no reason to pop into reception .....no more gas bottle issues !! I felt relaxed all week and had chats with John Millington and Bob Moores ( hop along Cassidy who surfs the net!!....even his scouse humour is being tested right now....hope you make a full recovery soon Bob)

Visited the Haybarn only once! Les has gone and to be fair the temp manager worked hard on the night. The whole place however, should be gutted and some of our site fees used to fastrack the place forward 30 years. The site was very quiet even in the peak summer week and I can’t help feeling SLP must be missing out on all a significant revenue stream.

The security chap was highly visible but I wonder whether he is needed anymore? Why don’t they add some more barrier and street lights ?

Some issues I noted which I hope some of you might have the answers

1. Re-sale – I feel sorry for John and Jerry who can’t sell. SLP don’t promote even if you enter into a private sale agreement
2. New Directors – no official communication on the recent sackings ( well deserved !!) or announcements on the replacements
3. Bin collections – can’t believe there is no other time slot available ..Thursday 8.30 am ...old chestnut MT advises only in the summer months
4. Kirkstone ...not surprisingly the new sales market is dead and very little development progress this year

Back to the good news

1. Queens Head is back to its best ....with a more extensive menu that cater for kids ..Double Hop is good ! Mortal Man is now a gastro pub and trying to emulate the Drunken Duck/Punch Bowl
2. Log House ..thanks Ann for the recommendation .....unsung but quality place to eat
3. Golden Fortune ( Chinese in Bowness ) was good after a pint of Unicorn in the Hole ith Wall
4. Bowness Air Show is a good event as is the Ambleside Sports Day
5. Went to Go Ape at Whinlater ( it’s new) and then to the Old Crow at Hesket Newmarket ...worth the trip out!
6. On the way home the Sun Inn at Crook never fails to impress
