Air Show

Gutted to have missed the Air Show last weekend. Hopefully the weather did not spoil the event. Would have loved to have seen the Vulcan fly past (assuming it did!)

Nothing to do with the Windermere Air Show, but you mentioned the Vulcan. Many many years ago we were walking around Lynmouth (Exmoor) when the Vulcan flew over and we overheard a Dad say to his son of about 10yrs 'look there's Concorde'. Easy mistake to make in those days because Concorde was fairly new and the Vulcan had delta wings as well. To save his reputation that 'Dad's are always right' we didn't correct him.

We've missed the Air Show every year since 2006 but our fix is when the Jets fly over the Lake and we smile - as we recall the fast becoming distant days when - we worked - and that our bit of paperwork handling helped to put those beasts into the skies. Magic. We both worked for the EJ200 team, which powers the Eurofighter, and the Adour team, which powers the Hawk for the Red Arrows. I guess it's makes a proud to be British too!

I wish I was local though because I currently have art work prints of boats on show at the Rayrigg Rooms (next to Seafarers Chip Shop) and am wondering if any have been sold.

Kind Regards

Yep, planes like the Vulcan and Concord do make you proud to be British and also sad that we can no longer put together the money to achieve such feats of engineering.

Hopefully next year we might catch the air show.

One last word on the subject - about engineering - Watch out for the upcoming Typhoon which will replace the Eurofighter - again powered by Rolls-Royce !!

Hello all - nothing to do with the Air Show but I received nice welcoming email saying I was the 50th member so I feel obliged to respond on behalf of the two of us.

If only to say, for now, we have been visiting Fallbarrow with our touring caravan for about 10 years and for the last year or so in one of the caravan homes, having taken advantage of the special prices. We always enjoy visiting. Active in fellwalking, visiting TBTL at Keswick, exploring and generally spending time up there.
